A Life of Love, Style, and Heart, Remembering Gerald “Gary” Leonard-Young Tanner II
Gerald Leonard-Young Tanner II, lovingly known as Gary, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by love, loyalty, and a vibrant personality that touched countless lives. Born on November 10, 1987, in Seoul, South Korea, Gary carried immense pride in his heritage and embraced it throughout his life, especially through his love of music and culture.
Above all, Gary was a devoted father to his three children—JT, Malia, and Elah—who meant everything to him. He was also a cherished companion, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Known for his generous spirit, Gary never hesitated to help anyone in need, regardless of circumstance. His kindness and authenticity made him someone people naturally gravitated toward.
Gary had a deep appreciation for style and self-expression. He loved cars, especially his prized Chrysler 300 with a Hemi engine, which he proudly customized. His passion extended to fashion, where his collection of sneakers—particularly his favorite Jordan 11s in the iconic Bred colorway—reflected his eye for detail and love for the color red. Always well-dressed and wearing jewelry to match, Gary carried himself with confidence and flair.
Music was another cornerstone of his life, with rap and K-pop frequently playing, a reflection of both his personality and cultural pride. He was also a dedicated Ohio State football fan and a lover of comforting meals like biscuits and gravy and beef stew.
Gary is survived by his loving family and friends, and he will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
