SAN ANTONIO — Two people are dead following a high-speed crash early Sunday morning that police say stemmed from a string of vehicle break-ins in a far West Side neighborhood. Authorities are continuing to investigate the sequence of events that led to the fatal incident, which unfolded in the early hours before sunrise.

According to officials, the situation began around 4 a.m. when a concerned resident reported suspicious activity in the area. The caller told authorities that two men in an older model Toyota were driving through the neighborhood, checking door handles and breaking into parked vehicles.
