A Fatal Domestic Dispute, Missouri Woman Indicted for the Murder of Retired Fire Chief and His Daughter
A quiet evening in Ferguson, Missouri, turned into a scene of unimaginable tragedy on February 21, 2026. What was initially reported as a medical emergency in the 500 block of North Clay Avenue quickly shifted into a double-homicide investigation. Upon arrival, officers discovered 61-year-old Henry Williams, a retired Berkeley Fire Chief, and his 15-year-old daughter, Ha’layna Williams, both dead from gunshot wounds to the head.
The timeline of the evening suggests a swift and violent escalation. Family members had spoken with Henry just 45 minutes prior to their arrival at the home at 6:11 p.m., where they made the grim discovery. Investigators found Henry in the kitchen and Ha’layna in her bedroom, highlighting the cold nature of the attack.
Inside the residence, police took 61-year-old Linda Hayden into custody. Hayden, who lived in the home and was in a relationship with the elder Williams, allegedly offered a chilling admission, stating she “guessed she was the villain in the story” and labeling Henry a “narcissist.” Authorities recovered a .38 caliber revolver from the primary bedroom containing two spent casings—matching the two lives lost.
