Interstate 14 Tragedy, Harker Heights Police Investigate Fatal Shooting Between Moving Vehicles
Authorities in Harker Heights are continuing to investigate a deadly shooting that unfolded along Interstate 14 early Sunday morning, leaving one teenager dead and another seriously injured. According to police, both victims were traveling in a vehicle moving in the same direction as the suspected shooter or shooters when gunfire erupted along the eastbound lanes.
The deceased victim has been identified as Sedell Barrios, 19, who suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Seton Medical Center. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his wounds shortly after arrival. A second victim, also 19 and from nearby Killeen, was initially treated at the same facility before being transferred to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple for further care. His current condition has not been publicly disclosed.
Randy Stefek, a commander with the Harker Heights Police Department, confirmed that investigators are working with limited but developing information. Early findings suggest the suspects may have been traveling in a dark-colored Nissan sedan at the time of the shooting.
