A tragic act of violence has shaken the community of Hanford after 25-year-old Sully Elizabeth CortezNeri was fatally shot in the early hours of March 23, 2026. Authorities say what began as a verbal dispute in a residential neighborhood escalated into a deadly confrontation, leaving a young woman dead and two Central Valley communities in mourning.

Police responded to multiple emergency calls reporting a heated argument followed by gunfire in the 500 block of Northstar Drive shortly after midnight. When officers arrived, they found CortezNeri suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite rapid emergency response efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene, marking a devastating end to what loved ones describe as a vibrant and promising life.

Originally from Los Banos, CortezNeri was remembered as a warm, kind-hearted individual with dreams still unfolding. Friends and family have expressed deep grief, describing her as someone who brought light and joy to those around her. Her sudden death has left an emotional void that continues to ripple through both communities.

The Hanford Police Department has launched an intensive homicide investigation. Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation involving multiple individuals and are actively reviewing surveillance footage and collecting forensic evidence to identify those responsible.
