Tragedy in Reno,Teen Killed and Another Injured in Late-Night Shooting Under Investigation.
Authorities in Reno are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a teenager and left another individual injured late Friday night. Officers with the Reno Police Department responded to reports of gunfire around 9:50 p.m. on March 20 near 1205 South Meadows Parkway. Upon arrival, they discovered a 15-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency efforts, the teen was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police confirmed that a second victim, an adult male, was also shot during the incident. He later arrived at a local hospital seeking treatment and is currently listed in stable condition. Authorities expect him to recover from his injuries.
Detectives from the department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit quickly took over the case, working to piece together the events leading up to the shooting. After conducting interviews and gathering evidence, investigators stated that all known parties connected to the incident have been identified and questioned. Officials have reassured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
Through the course of the investigation, police identified 18-year-old Cameron Wadsworth as the primary suspect. Officers located him at his residence and took him into custody without incident.
Wadsworth has since been booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility, where he faces a charge of open murder with a deadly weapon as the investigation continues.
