A peaceful neighborhood in Twin Lakes has been shaken after a fatal shooting claimed the life of a 38-year-old woman Monday morning. Authorities have identified the victim as Amber K. Montana, who was found dead inside her apartment at the Tan Oaks complex.

According to the Twin Lakes Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 9 a.m. at the Tan Oaks Apartments located on Wilmot Road. Upon arrival, they discovered Montana inside the residence, along with an 11-month-old child and a dog. Fortunately, both the child and the animal were unharmed.

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a 35-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting. While authorities have not yet released details about the suspect’s identity or motive, the swift arrest has provided some reassurance to residents in the area.

Neighbors reported hearing approximately four gunshots during the incident, a rare and alarming occurrence in what many describe as a quiet and close-knit community. One resident, who recently moved into the complex, expressed shock and sadness, noting that there had been no prior disturbances since her arrival months ago.

As investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, the community is left grappling with grief and disbelief. Officials have not indicated whether the suspect and victim knew each other, but the case remains under active investigation as authorities work to uncover the full story behind the tragic event.
